Public Consultation and Surveys

In Scotland all "major" and "national" developments require pre-application consultation with local communities. This provides an opportunity to get comments on the proposal and, if appropriate, amend proposals to reflect local concerns prior to the submission of planning applications.

From the applicant's perspective this process can be very beneficial not only in terms of potentially improving the design or content of the proposal but also to gauge level of public support or opposition and, by listening and responding to the views expressed, significantly improve the prospects of success with the application. For this reason pre-application consultations can be beneficial even with smaller "local" development proposals.

Hargest Planning Limited have assisted applicants in pre-application consultations ranging from organisation and design of consultations, design of questionnaire/feedback, analysis of results and the preparation of consultation reports.

The firm also undertakes the design, implementation and analysis of surveys for planning authorities and private clients in support of other studies including in-street surveys, business surveys and household questionnaire surveys.
